Top 3 French restaurants Phnom Penh dishes and settings best value
Three French restaurants in Phnom Penh combining quality, generous portions, and great value.
guide
Among my favorite restaurants, these three stand out for their authentic French cuisine and clearly rise above the rest. They all combine quality, generous portions, and good prices.

Beyond the food, each of these places offers a welcoming atmosphere and pleasant locations, making them perfect for a relaxed French dining experience.
Le Bistrot de l’Institut Français Phnom Penh tropical garden restaurant
Le Bistrot at the French Institute, a peaceful oasis in the heart of Phnom Penh.
Restaurant
Western
Nestled within the beautiful tropical garden of the French Institute, this spot offers a relaxed and authentic atmosphere. It’s a go-to for classic French dishes and its $12.90 lunch set menu, updated weekly—also making it the most affordable of the three restaurants I’m recommending today.

Another great advantage: take the time to explore the French Institute, which is truly my favorite cultural venue in Phnom Penh. The exhibitions are consistently high quality, and the large library is especially pleasant. It’s definitely the kind of place where you can easily spend the whole day.

Veal blanquette served at La Coupole, refined French cuisine at Sofitel Phnom Penh Phokeethra.
Restaurant
Western
Located at the Sofitel Phnom Penh Phokeethra, this restaurant offers an elegant dining experience without feeling out of reach. The service is attentive and the setting refined, just as you would expect from a luxury hotel. The lunch set menu is particularly appealing (starting from $18), making it a great option to treat yourself.

Don’t hesitate to give it a try: the staff immediately makes you feel at ease, whether you’re a hotel guest or not. And there’s no need to worry about your outfit—the atmosphere remains chic yet relaxed.

Steak frites Khema Phnom Penh French restaurant
Steak frites at Khema, a classic of French cuisine in Phnom Penh.
Restaurant
Western
Khéma strikes the perfect balance between refinement and conviviality. The menu features photos of every dish, making it easy and reassuring to choose, and a $17.90 lunch buffet is also available.

It’s the restaurant I consistently choose when taking visiting friends and family—I know they’ll enjoy it every time. Whether for lunch or dinner, it’s always a pleasant experience. The tables are large and well spaced, which I particularly appreciate, along with the table linens that add an elegant touch.

It’s also very kid-friendly, and most importantly, it’s the kind of place where you can linger without ever feeling rushed.
